Who We Are?

ABOUT SUMANA SANGAMA

Sumana Sangama is a song Mother Earth began humming for us in January 1996, when we purchased 17 acres of barren land, 10 kilometers from Dharwad in Karnataka, India. What started as a dry, overgrazed expanse has gradually transformed into a thriving green sanctuary—a forest-farm rich with a growing diversity of flora and fauna. We named this place Sumana Sangama, meaning Confluence of Flowers and Confluence of Good Minds. This name reflects both our reverence for nature’s abundance and our aspiration to foster a space where kindred spirits come together in harmony.

We never had a blueprint for Suman Sangam. It has evolved organically, driven by nature’s own rhythms and our ongoing commitment to learn from her. Every season brings with it a new line in this living poem, a verse added by the Earth herself—sometimes subtle, sometimes spectacular, but always meaningful. What remains constant is our core approach: to be natural, respectful, and holistic in all we do.

Our Vision

To create a self-sustaining, biodiverse forest-farm that serves as a living example of regenerative living, where humans coexist with nature not as dominators but as humble, learning participants. We envision Suman Sangam as a sanctuary for ecological restoration, a confluence of ideas, communities, and actions rooted in reverence for the Earth.
